Hiroshi Ibuki, a deep-sea archaeologist, is part of a team excavating the ocean floor in search of Earth's origins. Instead of answers, they discover a strange colony of luminous bacteria, glowing like the aurora borealis. When revived, these ancient microbes begin reshaping the world to suit their needs-a transformation that would revert Earth to its primordial state, wiping out all existing life in the process.
