In a world where magic and science exist side by side, Rayotte Steinberg is a solitary "tactical sorcerist" who battles monsters-creatures that were once human but transformed after abusing forbidden "magic." To stay human, he wears a "mold," a straitjacket that restrains him, and wields a "staff," a wand capable of obliterating anything. Every time he uses magic, he risks becoming a monster himself. But if he refuses, he’ll die. As he fights through these brutal struggles, he must also confront a dark sin from his past.
