Rintarou Okabe, the oddball who once called himself a mad scientist, is now a shadow of his past self. Haunted by his failure to save his friend Makise Kurisu, he’s given up his eccentric persona and settled into a quiet life as a college student. His friends remain unaware of his time-traveling past, leaving him to wrestle with his painful memories alone. While working as a receptionist at a university tech forum, Okabe crosses paths with Maho Hiyajo-a small but fiery woman who later steps in as the interpreter for Professor Alexis Leskinen’s presentation. The event takes a shocking turn when Alexis and Maho reveal "Amadeus," an advanced AI that can store a person’s memories and recreate their personality in perfect detail. After the presentation, Okabe discovers that Maho and Alexis worked with Kurisu in the past-and that they’ve used Amadeus to simulate her. Hired by Alexis to study the AI’s behavior, Okabe finds himself face-to-face with a ghost from his past. But as he delves deeper, he risks unraveling the fragile balance of time, forcing him to confront the consequences of tampering with what should have been left alone.
