SHIMONETA: A Boring World Where the Concept of Dirty Jokes Doesn't Exist

Japan has enacted harsh new morality laws, stripping the nation of anything deemed obscene or impure. Using special neck monitors, authorities strictly enforce these chastity rules to maintain a "pure" society. Tanukichi Okuma, the son of a notorious terrorist who fought against these laws, starts high school hoping to reconnect with his childhood crush-student council president Anna Nishikinomiya-by joining the student council. But he soon discovers that the vice president, Ayame Kajou, leads a double life as "Blue Snow," a masked rebel distributing indecent material to the repressed public. Intrigued by Tanukichi’s infamous family, she recruits him into her underground group, SOX, which wages war against the government’s oppressive regime. Forced to spread lewd propaganda, Tanukichi finds himself targeting his own school-and the person he admires most. As the battle escalates, he must choose between loyalty and rebellion in a world where desire is forbidden.
