Samurai Champloo - S01

Fuu Kasumi is a clumsy young waitress working in a quiet teahouse until her peaceful life is upended after she spills a drink on a customer. A group of samurai begins harassing her, prompting her to seek help from Mugen, another samurai in the shop. Mugen defeats them with his unorthodox, breakdance-like fighting style-but then picks a fight with Jin, a reserved ronin who fights with precise, traditional swordsmanship. Their clash leaves the teahouse in ruins and the magistrate's son dead. Sentenced to execution for their crime, Mugen and Jin are rescued by Fuu, who hires them as her bodyguards. With no home to return to, she asks them to help find a mysterious samurai who "smells of sunflowers." Though reluctant at first, the two agree, and the trio sets off on a journey-provided Fuu can keep Mugen and Jin from turning on each other. Set in an alternate Edo-era Japan, "Samurai Champloo" follows their adventures, blending action, comedy, and dynamic swordplay, all set to a distinctive hip-hop soundtrack.
