Read or Die the TV - S01

Anita King, Maggie Mui, and Michelle Cheung-known as the Paper Sisters-operate the Three Sisters Detective Agency in Hong Kong, specializing in book-related mysteries. When Japanese novelist Nenene Sumiregawa, suffering from writer's block after her friend Yomiko Readman vanished, hires them as local guides, they quickly find themselves in danger. The sisters, who possess the rare ability to manipulate paper as Paper Masters, rescue Nenene from terrorists attacking her at a book signing. To ensure her safety, they stay on as her bodyguards. For Maggie and Michelle, both avid fans of Nenene's work, the job is a dream come true. Anita, however, despises books despite her paper-based powers. As they adjust to life in Japan, balancing their detective duties with guarding Nenene, they uncover unsettling connections between her, Yomiko's disappearance, and the shadowy organization Dokusensha, which sends them to investigate mysterious books. What started as a straightforward assignment soon spirals into their most dangerous case yet. Now, they must decide: is literature worth risking their lives for?
