One Week Friends

Sixteen-year-old Yuuki Hase musters the courage to talk to his crush, Kaori Fujimiya, asking if she’d like to be friends. But Kaori, a quiet and distant girl, shuts him down just as harshly as she does everyone else. Later, Yuuki finds her eating alone on the roof, where she hides during breaks. He starts joining her every day, hoping to get closer. Slowly, Kaori begins to open up-but by the week’s end, she pulls away again. That’s when Yuuki learns the truth: Kaori’s memories reset every Monday, erasing all recollections of friends due to an accident in middle school. Once warm and sociable, she now isolates herself to avoid causing pain. Undeterred, Yuuki makes a promise-to ask her the same question every Monday: "Would you like to be friends?" Because he knows, no matter how many times she forgets, Kaori still longs for connection deep inside.
