Subaru Mikazuki is a 23-year-old mystery writer who prefers books over people. Painfully shy and introverted, he avoids social interaction whenever possible. His isolation deepened after losing his parents in an accident years ago, leaving him completely alone. One day, while visiting his parents' grave, Subaru meets Haru, a scruffy grey-and-white cat. He brings her home, though he has no experience caring for anyone-let alone a pet. Haru is thrilled with her new life of unlimited food, a far cry from her tough days as a stray. But she soon realizes Subaru struggles to take care of even himself. Can she really trust this clueless human? "Doukyonin wa Hiza, Tokidoki, Atama no Ue" follows the quiet bond between a lonely man and a street-smart cat as they slowly learn to understand each other.
