Ryou Machiko grew up believing that being a good cook was the first step to becoming a proper wife-or so her late grandmother had taught her. As a middle schooler, her skills in the kitchen are unmatched, but lately, something feels off. Her dishes look and smell wonderful, yet the taste just isn’t there. Disheartened, Ryou starts to accept that she might end up living alone forever-until her aunt informs her that Kirin Morino, her second cousin, will be staying with her every weekend. Kirin has enrolled in a Tokyo cram school and hopes to attend the same school as Ryou. To Ryou’s surprise, her cooking suddenly gets better with Kirin around. It turns out her talent wasn’t the problem-what was missing was sharing the meals with someone close to her. The flavors come alive when they’re enjoyed together.
