Mafuyu Satou grips his Gibson guitar tightly as he leaves his dim apartment for another day of high school. One afternoon, while dozing on the gym stairs, he meets Ritsuka Uenoyama, who scolds him for neglecting his guitar-letting the strings rust and snap. Impressed by Uenoyama’s expertise, Satou begs him to repair it and teach him how to play. Reluctantly, Uenoyama agrees and brings him to a practice session with his bandmates: bassist Haruki Nakayama and drummer Akihiko Kaji. When Satou sings, his voice captivates Uenoyama, who becomes determined to make him the band’s lead singer. Though hesitant at first, Satou accepts after an emotional reunion with an old friend. With his new band’s encouragement, he not only learns guitar but also confronts the unresolved past tied to the instrument itself.
