Gintama: The Movie

Gintoki, along with his Yorozuya companions Shinpachi and Kagura-who are more like overworked employees than friends-struggle to make ends meet in Edo, a city overrun by aliens in a futuristic version of Japan. They accept odd jobs to survive, usually avoiding serious danger. But when Katsura, the Joui rebel leader and Gintoki’s old friend, vanishes after a violent attack by an unknown assailant, Shinpachi and Kagura start looking into his disappearance and the attacker’s identity. At the same time, Gintoki gets hired by a blacksmith named Tetsuya to retrieve a stolen, mysterious sword called the Benizakura. As their separate investigations begin to overlap, the Yorozuya trio uncovers a dark conspiracy tied to the Benizakura’s cursed power. Realizing the stakes, Gintoki decides to confront the enemy head-on, rallying some unlikely allies for what turns out to be one of his most dangerous missions yet.
