Ghost in the Shell

In 2029, Niihama City stands as a hub of technological progress, where cybernetic enhancements allow people to replace their body parts with advanced prosthetics. The world has grown increasingly interconnected, and Public Security Section 9 works to counter corruption, terrorism, and emerging threats in this globalized era. Leading Section 9 is Major Motoko Kusanagi, a determined officer tasked with tracking down a shadowy hacker called the "Puppet Master." This criminal overwrites victims' memories, leaving them hollow shells. Nearly fully mechanized like many in this future, the Puppet Master possesses formidable abilities. As Motoko and her team pursue the elusive hacker, other factions-including Section 6-take interest, complicating the investigation. Wrestling with deep philosophical questions about her own existence, Motoko discovers that the key to understanding herself may lie with the Puppet Master.
