Kimball Kinnison, a young man preparing to leave home for broader studies, has his life upended when a Galactic Patrol ship crashes on his family’s property. The dying pilot gives him a strange, semi-sentient device called a Lens, which bonds to his hand. This event sets off a chain of changes-his father’s death, a harrowing space battle, and a fateful meeting with Chris, a Galactic Patrol nurse. Guided by the Lens, Kim finds himself thrust into a vast, unknown world of danger and opportunity. When the moment comes, he must risk everything to protect Chris and, ultimately, the universe itself.
