Shy university student Mako Kawai spends her free time watching cooking videos and trying out the recipes she learns. These days, she’s nothing like the lively girl she was in elementary school-her social anxiety keeps her from stepping outside her comfort zone, whether it’s eating alone at a restaurant or making new friends. Then she reunites with Shinon Ogawa, a childhood friend who’s just as outgoing as ever. Shinon wastes no time pulling Mako into her circle of friends: laid-back Tsutsuji Higa and sensible Kurea Furutachi. The group is starting a Food Culture Research Club, and they want Mako to be their fourth member. At first, she turns them down, but Mako begins to see this as an opportunity-a way to bring some joy back into her life, share good food with friends, and maybe even rediscover the person she used to be.
