Tsukimihara Academy appears to be a perfect school, but beneath its facade lies a technological nightmare. Built by the Moon Cell computer, it serves as the battleground for the next Holy Grail War. The school is filled with souls from Earth who show even the faintest potential to become a "Master." Out of 256 candidates, 128 are chosen for the main tournament and given a Servant. Once the selection is complete, the Academy begins purging the remaining lives without mercy. Hakuno Kishinami wakes up in his own blood, clinging to life. Driven by an unexplained hatred, he swears to survive. As he flees from a relentless hunter, he discovers a crimson sword embedded in the ground. When he pulls it free, he summons his Servant, Saber, who obliterates his pursuer in a storm of rose petals. Now armed with this power, Hakuno sets out for Moon Cell's core, the Angelica Cage. There, he hopes to uncover the truth behind this fabricated world-and the dark secrets of his own bloody past.
