Chuuta Kokonose is an orphan living with his aunt. He has always heard a mysterious voice in his head, but aside from that, his life has been ordinary-until a bizarre creature follows him home and suddenly transports him to a world full of fantastical beings. He finds himself at a space police station, where Rein Brickke, the Chief of the Solar System Department, informs him that a computer has selected him as a potential recruit. Misuzu Sonokata, a sharp-tempered girl from Chuuta’s school with a deceptively angelic appearance, also works there and doubts he has what it takes. At first stunned, Chuuta decides to take the aptitude test, partly encouraged by the voice in his head and partly to prove Misuzu wrong.
