Dino Mech Gaiking - S01

Earth faces a new threat as aliens from the planet Zeraz prepare to invade, desperate to escape their own world’s destruction by a black hole. Under the command of Great Darius and his four generals, they unleash devastation. After an ESP warrior falls to the aliens, Professor Hi-Tech recognizes the danger and constructs two powerful weapons: the massive dragon-shaped spaceship Daiku Maryuu, piloted by Pete, and the giant robot Gaiking, controlled by Sanshiro Shiwobuki, a former baseball player. The Daiku Maryuu serves as both a carrier and a combat vessel, with its head forming Gaiking’s torso. When Gaiking enters battle, the Daiku Maryuu launches the robot’s remaining components, then reconnects its head and tail to become an unbreakable unit. The story follows the crew of the semi-transformable Daiku Maryuu and their Super Mecha Gaiking as they fight against the invaders from Zela. Notably, Gaiking stood out as one of the few super robot series set in real-world locations beyond Japan, and it was the first to feature a mobile carrier for its main robot. In the English version, Sanshiro’s name was changed to Aries Astonopolis, and the Daiku Maryuu was referred to as the "Great Space Dragon."
