In the near future, augmented reality is woven into everyday life. Yuuko "Yasako" Okonogi, a quiet middle schooler, moves to Daikoku City with her family despite whispers of disappearances. Her grandmother, known as "Mega-baa," runs a shop called Megasia that deals in illegal tools for interacting with the virtual world. Mega-baa also oversees "Coil," an underground detective agency made up of kids Yasako’s age who investigate glitches and corruption in the digital space. Yasako gets pulled into their world when Fumie Hashimoto, a mischievous Coil member, helps save her cyberdog Densuke after it chases a strange virus into the virtual realm. Meanwhile, a sharp-tongued hacker named Yuuko Amasawa-nicknamed Isako-is also probing these anomalies. As Coil digs deeper into the viruses and distortions, they uncover unsettling truths. But solving the mystery may come with a price.
