People across Japan had become obsessed with the 20th Century Expo, theme parks that recreated the nostalgic atmosphere of the 1970s-Japan’s final years of rapid economic growth. But one day, the adults vanished into these parks, abandoning their children. This was the work of "Yesterday Once More," a group that hated the 21st century and sought to drag Japan back into the past using dreams and hope. Shinnosuke, along with his parents Hiroshi and Misae, must resist the group’s plans to reunite their family and live freely in the present day.
