On a windy day, Mei Kusakabe ignores the rough weather and goes outside to play. Just as she's about to enjoy her caramel candy, a sudden whirlwind starts chasing her. She runs back inside, only to find that her pursuer is a young Nekobasu. They strike up a sweet truce, and soon, the two become fast friends. Later that evening, the baby Nekobasu comes back and asks Mei to join him on a journey-beginning their exciting adventures in and around the lively forest.
