This story presents an alternate version of events, separate from the earlier Appleseed movies-even though it shares the same director. It reimagines the origins of Deunan and Briareos, with Briareos already a cyborg from the start, unlike the previous timeline where he and Deunan were separated before reuniting in Olympus to join ESWAT. Set in the 22nd century, "Appleseed Alpha" follows Deunan Knute and Briareos as they navigate the ruined wasteland of New York, hoping to reach the legendary city of Olympus. Hired by the warlord Two Horns to destroy enemy combat machines, they cross paths with Iris and Olson, who are on their own mission. After forming a bond, Deunan and Briareos decide to assist them. Iris has been sent to stop the rogue cyborg Talos from seizing a dangerous human-made weapon. However, Talos manipulates her into activating a massive war machine, setting off a dire conflict.
