In 1625, a young nobleman named D'Artagnan leaves his home in Gascony for Paris, carrying only his father’s sword and a letter of introduction. With his grandparents’ approval, he sets out to meet Tréville, captain of the Musketeers of the Guard and his late father’s old friend, hoping to serve King Louis XIII as a hero. Paris overwhelms D'Artagnan with its sheer size, but he soon befriends a local orphan named Jean. His fiery temper, however, lands him in trouble when he insults three Musketeers-Porthos, Aramis, and Athos. When the city guards interrupt their illegal duel, the four men band together to fight off Cardinal Richelieu’s soldiers, forging an unexpected friendship. Now united, the four companions must thwart the Cardinal’s plot to spark a war between England and France while defending the honor of Queen Anne d'Autriche, Louis XIII’s wife. But their noble mission may come at a heavy price.
