The animals hold a swimming competition. Saru-kun, a boastful monkey, can't admit he doesn't know how to swim, so he signs up anyway. He jumps into the pool but quickly starts sinking. Oddly, the bottom is covered in seaweed and coral, and a kappa-a water spirit-lives there. Saru-kun wrestles with the kappa and snatches the saucer from its head. In return for getting his saucer back, the kappa offers to carry Saru-kun on his back as he swims. Saru-kun glides through the water, making it seem like he's swimming on his own, and wins the race. But how does it all turn out in the end?
