Eleven-year-old Sara Werec watched as her older brother, Ralph, was sent off to fight in an interstellar war 130 light years away. She promised herself she would become strong enough to stand beside him one day. Five years later, she enrolls at Grapera Space Armed Soldier Academy, training to pilot a "Strain"-an advanced combat system-as a Reasoner.
