Following their crushing defeat against Kainan High, Team Shohoku and a freshly shaved Hanamichi Sakuragi find themselves facing an unexpected challenge-an exhibition match against the little-known Ryoukufu High. Though Coach Anzai hopes this game will help his players rebuild their confidence, Ryoukufu turns out to be far from pushovers. With a newly assembled roster built to compete at the highest level, they might just be Shohoku's most formidable opponents yet.
