My-Hime

On their way to Fuuka Academy by ferry, Mai Tokiha and her frail younger brother Takumi spot a girl floating in the water. After rescuing her, the ferry is suddenly attacked by a mysterious assailant who summons a mechanical monster. The injured girl, Mikoto Minagi, fights back with a supernatural sword, driving the creature away. Mai later learns that Mikoto is also a student at Fuuka Academy and possesses special powers known as HiME (Highly-advanced Materializing Equipment). These female students are tasked with defending the academy and the surrounding city from monstrous beings called "Orphans." After encountering multiple attacks at school, Mai discovers she, too, is a HiME-capable of summoning a powerful mechanical ally known as a "Child." Now part of a group of 13 HiME, Mai must balance her new duties while protecting those she cares about, even as the true nature of the threat they face remains unclear.
