In 1923, Tokyo faces a surge of vampires driven by the black-market trade of "Ascra," a synthetic blood substitute. As their numbers grow, Lieutenant General Sounosuke Nakajima orders Special Forces Unit 16 to assemble a covert vampire-hunting squad called Code Zero, made up of military vampires. Colonel Yoshinobu Maeda leads the unit, tasked with tracking down the source of Ascra and eliminating rogue vampires. But as public scrutiny mounts and the threat of disbandment looms, he faces increasing pressure to deliver results. Meanwhile, the vampires in Code Zero struggle to control their newfound abilities and come to terms with their changed existence. Caught between a hostile world and their own monstrous instincts, the team must find a way to stop the crisis-or risk losing themselves to the darkness.
