Karakuri Circus

Narumi Katou is a middle-aged man living with ZONAPHA Syndrome, a strange illness that triggers violent seizures unless he witnesses someone laughing. During his part-time job, a young boy named Masaru Saiga crashes into him while fleeing from three pursuers. Masaru reveals he is the new heir to Saiga Enterprises after his father’s death, but his relatives want him dead to seize the fortune. Narumi helps Masaru escape, fighting off the attackers-only to learn they are superhuman, sentient puppets. Just as Narumi is overpowered, a white-haired girl named Shirogane appears, summoning another puppet from Masaru’s suitcase and declaring herself his protector. "Karakuri Circus" traces the intertwined paths of these three as they uncover the secrets of an ancient story of love and treachery, and the centuries-old war between humans and puppets.
