That changes when Riina Takahashi, a spirited transfer student, pushes Etsuko and their classmate Hime Saeki to help restart the club. Soon, rivals Taeko Hyoudou and Mayumi Imoto join, rounding out the team. Though Etsuko hesitates to fully commit at first, she gradually finds her place among the girls-and rediscovers her determination as she throws herself into rowing.
