After the Heath Oslo incident, the public learned about CIRS, a joint US-Japanese anti-terror organization. Now rebuilt, CIRS has shifted its most secretive operations to a new agency: SORD (Social Ops, Research & Development). SORD’s mission is to prepare the next generation of operatives to protect the country from future threats. To achieve this, it has set up specialized training schools across the nation. Among them is Mihama Academy, a once-abandoned school given new life as one of these covert institutions. The revived Mihama Academy is filled with a unique group of students, each honing their unusual skills-sometimes through real missions. These misfit girls are entrusted with guns and live ammunition, sent repeatedly into dangerous, off-the-books operations for the sake of their country. "We were given a place in this world, but that alone isn’t enough. There’d be no meaning in living if that was all... Being used by others isn’t enough. I survive by my own strength, fighting to live. That’s the only way those of us who endure can find forgiveness..." No matter how harsh life becomes, what future lies ahead for these girls who’ve chosen the path of the gun?
