Bakumatsu

The Bakumatsu period was a time when young men's hearts burned with concern for their country's fate. Takasugi Shinsaku, a Choshu mercenary, boards a government ship with his ally Katsura Kogorou, seeking a strange "timepiece" rumored to control time-a device he suspects the government wants to hoard. Determined to prevent such power from being misused, Takasugi intends to destroy it, but after securing the artifact, a thief snatches it away. The pair pursues the culprit to Kyoto, the heart of government, only to find the capital overthrown and ruled by the god Susanoo. The city and its people are unrecognizable from what they once knew. Though the world has shifted, their goal remains unchanged: Takasugi and Katsura must undo time’s corruption and rescue their nation from those who seek to control its destiny.
