Area 88 - S01

In the vast deserts of the Middle Eastern kingdom of Asran, Japanese photojournalist Makoto Shinjou visits the isolated airbase Area 88 to cover the lives of the mercenary pilots who fight the nation’s wars for profit. One of them is Shin Kazama, a skilled Japanese pilot who was deceived by his closest friend into joining Asran’s fighter squadron. This betrayal cost Shin his career as a commercial airline pilot and his chance to marry his fiancée, Ryoko Tsugumo. To escape Area 88 and return home, Shin faces three grim options: serve as a mercenary for three years, earn $1.5 million, or attempt desertion-knowing it could mean his death.
